About Me
A warm welcome to my site!
I hope that you enjoy your visit and please return as I will be adding more of my artwork as I create it, and I always strive to attain better results, as art is an infinite process of learning and evolving. I have always had a passion for drawing and painting, as a young child I was rarely seen without a felt tip, crayon or pencil in my hand and would ardently fly through sketchbooks at an incredible rate. I would even draw on the blank square of old Christmas cards, or on the inside of cereal boxes.
Until now, art remained throughout the course of my life as a pastime. I pursued a career in healthcare and acquired a BSc (Hons) degree in Podiatry twenty years ago. I worked as a podiatrist since graduating up until very recently when my business was decimated by the pandemic, and I was left with no option but to close my doors, particularly as I have a vulnerable daughter with a chromosomal deletion who resides with me, and my place of work being attached to our house. Protecting her will always be paramount and of the utmost priority.
I do believe that we need to glean wherever possible, any positive components from the changes forced upon us, and adapt an alternative strategy, that we can live a happy and enriched, albeit different life. For the first time in many years, I have found that I have the time to dedicate to my artwork and have surprised myself with the end results transpiring from my efforts.
I feel it is imperative that I mention my late father, to whom I will always be thankful to for his guidance and encouragement to be creative throughout my childhood. He was an extremely talented artist and his oil paintings are still remembered and appreciated within our community, twenty years after his passing. He was very much inspired by the late Bob Ross and would paint stunningly colourful woodland scenes, and places of local and historical interest. He adored nature, and this would shine through in his artwork.
What I Do
My own art has two facets. I am a digital artist, and I also paint with acrylics on canvas.
The artwork you see here is a variety of both. I have original paintings for sale as well as digital art prints, framed and unframed. The two genres are quite diverse from each other, I paint traditionally original scenes, at present these are of my local area, and are very different to my digital prints, which have an element of surrealism and feature fantasy imagery, into which I will often incorporate the words “faciam quodlibet quod necesse est” which when translated means, “I will do whatever it takes”. This has been my maxim for the past thirteen years, having lost my mother when she was only fifty four years old, and who was much loved and an invaluable help to me as a struggling single parent to two children.
I like those who view my work to draw their own thoughts and conclusions as to what they represent. They are intended to evoke cogitation within one’s own perception of what is actually in front of them. I do hope that this site will be a positive experience for you, please feel free to ask me any questions that you may have regarding what is featured here. Thank you for dropping by!
